Festivals

With an abundance of magnificent stately homes and a few thousand square miles of green space at its disposal, Norfolk is a Mecca for both event organisers and festival goers alike. Whether your bag be music, art, books, films or food, the East offers over 100 large-scale events with something for every taste, budget and age group. The below events are just a pop-up tent full of suggestions.

Creatively staged in the enchanting grounds of East Norfolk’s Henham Park, Latitude has become a mainstay of the international summer season with its perfectly balanced blend of music, theatre, comedy and dance. So much so, that the mid-summer event event picked up the award for ‘best major festival’ at the 2017 UK Festival Awards.

The Norfolk & Norwich Festival can trace its roots back to 1772, making it the longest running arts festival in the UK. With a focus on music, literature, dance and large-scale free outdoor events, the 17-day extravaganza transforms public spaces, city streets, performance venues, parks, forests and beaches for its world class programme of activities.

Snape Maltings hosts not one but two of the most prestigious annual classical music seasons. June sees the Aldeburgh Festival – as founded by Benjamin Britten in 1948. August welcomes the ever-popular month-long Snape Proms. The expansive performance, arts and retail space also hosts a year-round programme of smaller events including a festival of new compositions, a vintage and makers fair and numerous food festivals.
