J is for JOY!!!

After all, it’s what you come to the seaside hoping to find – and you’ll find an abundance of it in Norfolk. Here’s some of our favourite things to do to achieve that feeling of gleefulness!

Enjoyed the adrenaline rush of a big ride on Great Yarmouth seafront… WOO-HOOOOOO!

Dune jumped at Holkham or Wells or Winterton-on-Sea.

D is for Dunes

Blakeney Point Seals

Taken a boat trip from Morston or Blakeney to see the delightful Common and Grey seals at Blakeney Point… ‘AAAARGH! Bless!’

Where to see the seals in Norfolk

Horsey Beach

Or… tromped over the dunes and through the marram grass to get to Horsey beach, where the Broads meet the North Sea… you’ll usually find a few seals there too.

Eaten fish and chips at the seaside, liberally doused with vinegar and sprinkled with salt. BLISS!

F is for Fish and Chips

Do the traditional things on Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile – roll up your trousers legs and have a paddle, eat an ice cream, build a sandcastle.

Been to a show at the Pavilion Theatre, Cromer – the last end-of-pier theatre in Europe.

Crabbing off Blakeney Quay

Been crabbing on the quays at Blakeney or Wells, or from the pier at Cromer, all in north Norfolk.

How to go crabbing

Watched the sunset at Hunstanton, the only east coast resort that faces west!

North Norfolk Railway train.

Choo choo! Enjoyed an exhilarating journey on the steam North Norfolk Railway, otherwise known as the Poppy Line, between Sheringham and Holt.

Kite surfed or windsurfed at Hunstanton where, because of sandbanks and shallow water, you get some of the best conditions in the country.

Imagined you’re Gulliver on his travels at the Merrivale Model Village in Great Yarmouth.

Great Yarmouth seafront

Salivate as you watch your donuts being freshly made on the batter-to-sugar conveyor belt at Great Yarmouth then walk along Marine Parade while you tuck in WITHOUT licking your lips!

Joyland Snails, Great Yarmouth

Ridden a Snail at JOYLAND (yes, really!) in Great Yarmouth. They’re faster than you might think! Okay, they’re not.
