Blickling unveils its festive Garden of Lights

Take in the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of this magical season set within the beautiful gardens of Blickling Estate as the National Trust property prepares to wow visitors once again for its biggest annual fundraiser.

Tickets are now on sale for the Garden of Lights trail, which will take place from Saturday 30 November to Sunday 15 December 2024, 5-8pm.

Visitors will enter down the spectacular front drive for an evening of colourful displays and illuminations, taking them on a multi-sensory journey through the seasons on a new accessible level route. Step into summer in the Walled Garden, autumn on the Parade, winter on the Acre and the brightness of spring along the walk to the Temple. All four seasons will be featured on the Parterre, where there will be family activities and games and a chance to make lasting memories together.

For Experience and Visitor Programme Manager, Sebastian Billing, it’s his favourite time of year. ‘I’ve known Blickling all my life and for my family, it’s always been a playground for the senses. Our Garden of Lights event transforms the outside spaces – once the sun goes down, it feels like every inch is painted with imagination. Seeing visitors of all ages laughing and making memories in a place that means so much to the local community, shows us that the essential fundraising we do as a charity can look and feel pretty magical.’

Head to the Farmyard for food and drinks, including pizzas and waffles, or stop along the route and soak up the atmosphere under the festive stretch tent as you enjoy toasted marshmallows, mince pies and warming seasonal drinks. The shop and second-hand bookshop will be open for those last-minute stocking fillers and perfect presents for loved ones.

The Garden of Lights at Blickling provides a special way to celebrate the festive season with an unmissable experience. The trail is designed for visitors of all ages and features a one-mile accessible route for everyone to enjoy. Mobility scooters can be pre-booked for the event. A changing places facility is available in the Farmyard. Tuesday 10 December is a relaxed reduced capacity event for those who would like a quieter atmosphere.
