What's On

Make a splash at WWT Welney

Will you make a big splash when you visit the wetland centre in the west of the county? That’s what you’ll be hoping for when you take part in the Puddle Jumping Championships. There are other splash-tastic activities but it’s registering on the ‘splashometer’ that will be top of mind.

Dino days out for under a tenner!

Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure

Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure are going half-price for half-term as ‘Fantasy February’ arrives at the Lenwade attraction.

Between February 18-24, children under 16 are invited to dress up as their favourite fantasy character or dinosaur to get 50% off admission. There’ll be prizes for the best costumes. Think fairies, ogres, trolls, unicorns and dragons!

There’ll also be daily workshops with The Fairyland Trust which will connect children and families with the magic of nature. They’ll cost just £1 and includes natural materials to make butterflies in the morning and ‘bug bling’ in the afternoon.

Pensthorpe is Home Tweet Home

Pensthorpe Natural Park

You can make your own nest box and learn about native bird nesting techniques at Pensthorpe’s Home Tweet Home between February 16-24.

The event, which is included in the admission price, ties in with National Nest Box Week and promises outdoor family fun with a Nest Box Trail following birds’ track marks.

There’s a small fee for nest box building for those wanting to get hands-on with nature and make their own bespoke creation which they can take home and put in the garden.

Then it’s time to head indoors for themed craft-making activities – and for the more energetic, take a romp around Hootz House, the eco indoor play area.

Baaa-rilliant fun at the Barns

Wroxham Barns

Head down to the Junior Farm to lamb-feeding and the opportunity to cuddle up to the fluffy little bundles of fleecy fun. New this year is Lambing Live, where you can see lambs being born. There’s also a full timetable of hands-on activities including pony grooming, guinea pig cuddling and watch the piggery feed. And don’t miss The Barny Show and Family Funpark.

Discover your inner Viking

York Helmet by Anthony Chappel-Ross, York Museums Trust

The Vikings have returned to Norwich! But don’t worry, this time it will be considerably more peaceful than a thousands years ago. The exhibition, from the British Museum and York Museum, is at the Castle from February 9-September 8 but there are lots of special half-term activities to enjoy.
