Hollywood comes to Holkham Hall and beach

With Norwich, Holkham is unarguably Norfolk’s most significant film location. The 18th century Palladian house and its nearby beach are well used to visiting Hollywood stars, including Keira Knightley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman and Peter O’Toole.

Repton Revealed at Sheringham Park - new illuminations set to celebrate Norfolk landscape

A stunning display of light is set to illuminate Humphry Repton’s vision for Sheringham Park, as the National Trust celebrates the last great landscape designer of the 18th century, in what is regarded as the best surviving example of his work in the country. For seven nights this November, spectacular light installations will highlight Repton’s views in the landscape, enabling visitors to experience Sheringham Park in an entirely new light.

Elisabeth Frink: Humans and other Animals at the Sainsbury Centre

This autumn, the Sainsbury Centre of Visual Arts at Norwich will present a major new exhibition of work by Elisabeth Frink (1930-1993). Elisabeth Frink: Humans and Other Animals, featuring over 130 works by the artist, will be the largest showing of Frink’s work in 25 years.

Ken Kiff: The Sequence at The Sainsbury Centre

This winter, the Sainsbury Centre presents an important reappraisal of the work of Ken Kiff (1935–2001), one of the most original artists working in Britain at the end of the twentieth century. In the first museum exhibition of Ken Kiff for almost 25 years, The Sequence focuses on a unique series of almost 200 acrylic paintings on paper, which he began in 1971 and continued to work on intermittently until his death.

On Saturday 13 October Teenage History Club and members of Thetford Academy SPECTRUM group are running a family friendly event of activities, glitter, unicorns, mermaids and information sharing about the LGBTQ+ community. The event is linked to National Coming Out Day. The young people are keen to create a friendly and playful environment in which people can ask questions, find out information and gain a greater understanding of the LGBTQ+ community.

The Vagina Museum Comes to Ancient House, Thetford

On Saturday 6 October (11am-3.30pm) Ancient House is hosting The Vagina Museum’s touring exhibition asking Is Your Vagina Normal? This is a question almost everyone with a vagina has asked themselves at some point. But just like fingerprints, no two vaginas are the same. The aim of the exhibition is to broaden the understanding of gynaecological health.

The Paston Treasure at Norwich Castle

The Paston Treasure: Riches and Rarities of the Known World is a major new show at Norwich Castle, from 23 June until 23 September. The exhibition, organised in partnership with the Yale Center for British Art, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, brings together rare works of art featured in an enigmatic painting, which chronicles one of the greatest private art collections of seventeenth century England, amassed by generations of the Pastons, an influential, landowning Norfolk family.
