After-dark discovery of nature’s nightlife at NEW Pensthorpe event

At Pensthorpe Natural Park, near Fakenham, there’s around 1,000 species of birds, animals and plants to discover, but some of the nocturnal creatures who call the nature reserve home are just waking up and venturing out as the sun sets. That’s why Pensthorpe is holding a new after dark Creatures of the Night event on Wednesday 28 August 2019, so visitors can enjoy spotting and learning about its resident bats, moths and owls.

Keepers at Banham Zoo are ‘otterly' delighted with the birth of two adorable Asian small-clawed otter cubs. The pair, have recently been spotted by our visitors happily playing in their habitat with their year-old sibling, Makati, mother Tilly and father Sam, and are expected to enthral visitors this summer with their playful antics.

World-leading conservationist set to visit Pensthorpe

One of the world’s foremost conservationists has announced a visit to Norfolk to unveil his findings on the state of cranes worldwide. Aviculturalist George Archibald will be hosting the special event at Pensthorpe Natural Park, near Fakenham, at 7:30pm on Thursday 29 November 2018. The talk will present Archibald’s findings on the status of all 15 species of cranes of the world, including an update on how the Eurasian Crane are doing in the UK.

It’s a boy! Baby Red Panda Born at Banham Zoo

Keepers at Banham Zoo are thrilled to announce the latest addition to the zoo, a male red panda cub, an extremely valuable addition to the ongoing international efforts to protect this threatened species. The cub, who is yet to be named, was born this summer to the zoo’s pair of red pandas, Jasper and Maggie. The two adult pandas have been together since 2015, producing a female cub in 2016.

It is hoped that the breeding fortunes are on the up for a group of Greater Flamingos at Pensthorpe Natural Park, near Fakenham in Norfolk, which has welcomed 20 new birds to join its resident flock of 29. The new birds, which have come from Slimbridge Wetland Centre, near Gloucester, take the Pensthorpe flock beyond the ‘magic number 40’ which, according to experts, can help to boost breeding rates amongst the birds.
