About RSPB Titchwell Marsh
Big skies, a fabulous sandy beach and bird-filled reedbeds, lagoons and marshes are just a few gems tucked away inside Titchwell’s treasure trove of natural delights.
Titchwell Marsh is, not surprisingly, one of The RSPB’s most popular reserves from sandy beaches to lagoons and reedbeds – it’s all here!
Thousands of migrating birds pass through Titchwell in spring and autumn, and many spend winter here, giving you an unrivalled opportunity to see many species of ducks, waders, seabirds and geese. As the days lengthen again, some birds begin their departure to northern lands whilst others arrive from Africa. Throughout the year, Marsh Harriers delight visitors with their aerial displays while genteel Avocets grace freshwater lagoons in pairs, then later in large flocks.
Titchwell Marsh nature reserve is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With its wild open spaces and breathtaking views of landscapes and seascapes it offers a place for tranquillity and reflection. For visitors wanting a more active experience, take a walk past whispering reedbeds and bird filled lagoons to one of Norfolk’s finest beaches. Explore a diversity of habitats with close views of an array of wildlife including water loving mammals, amphibians and reptiles, dragonflies and damselflies and a wide variety of bird species. From migrants which over winter here to the arrival of Swallows and Cuckoos in spring, there is always something to see.
Take a guided walk and enjoy the best of our seasonal highlights with a knowledgeable guide or participate in a birding workshop or photography masterclass. Families can hire a kit and explore the depths of freshwater ponds or go on a self-led adventure with an explorer backpack.
Visitor centre, café and shop open at 9:30 am and close at 4:30pm daily (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day). The main car includes 8 parking bays for Blue Badge Holders, a motorcycle bay and an area for coaches, motorhomes or large minibus to park. The public toilet is open from 9am-5pm daily (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day).
For keen wildlife observers and new explorers there is so much to do. Come for an hour, stay for the day.
