There's been a place of worship on this hill since the earliest days of Christianity and may be before the faith was established in the land. The ghosts of earlier and smaller buildings - going back a thousand years - can been seen where they have been incorporated into later buildings. In spring and early summer the churchyard is bright with wild flowers.

Beneath the thatched roof, inside the cool bright church, modern kneelers reflect the glory of Broadland's natural history. Clearly still valued and prayed in the church wears its history on its sleeve. In the 15th century it was beautified with a wonderful painted screen. In Cromwell's time "a godly trooper from Hobbis" disapproved and scratched out all the faces. Helpful interpretation boards help visitors to read the building!

Aged 8, on a Broadland holiday, the young John Betjeman awoke one morning and looking up from the river catching a glimpse of St. Peter's and its tower and fell in love! It may happen to you!

Kids: Look up in church and look who's looking down at you!

The church has its own staithe. Arrive by boat and climb the pilgrim path to the churchyard!
