Details
Holkham Hall is perhaps the only eighteenth century house in the country to have an entire wing dedicated to guests, or ‘Strangers’ as they were called in eighteenth century parlance. From the very moment of the Hall’s conception, entertaining guests has been key, and under Thomas William Coke ‘of Norfolk’, Holkham became known for holding large scale events, where up to 500 guests would be in attendance. How were these guests accommodated? What did they eat? And how were they entertained?
Full disabled access to shop and café and hall's ground floor. A stair climbing machine gives access to the hall's first floor for most manually operated wheelchairs. Full disabled access information is available on our website.
