Broadland Remembers


The event features an exhibition and other activities, including talks and workshops, to highlight the efforts made by the people of Broadland during the First World War and how the conflict affected local people.

The event starts on Friday 9 November, continues over Armistice weekend and into the following week until Friday 16 November. It will be held at Whitwell and Reepham railway station, Whitwell Road, Reepham, NR10 4GA.

What's happening:

Friday 9 November, 11am - launch event and exhibition preview
Saturday 10 November, 11am - religious ceremony, open to the public
Sunday 11 November - exhibition open on Remembrance Sunday
Monday 12 November, 10.30am - reading from Brenda Gosling, author of ‘Sister Poppy at the Front’ and poppy making class for children
Tuesday 13 November, 10.30am - talk on Norfolk in the First World War, the story of the county and its people during WW1 by local historian, Neil Storey
Wednesday 14 November, 10.30am - talk on Armistice and After in Norfolk by Neil Storey
Thursday 15 November, 10.30am - First World War poetry workshop with local poet, Sue Burge (please pre-book)
Friday 16 November, 10.30am - talk on Norfolk Women in the First World War from Neil Storey
