The Real Halloween

The Real Halloween

The Fairyland Trust’s popular autumn family event full of nature and magic, The Real Halloween, returns to Norfolk on 26 and 27 October at the enchanting woodland site of Bradmoor Woods, West Acre.

Situated in an atmospheric native woodland with ancient trees and opportunities to explore, The Real Halloween offers a rich variety of things to do for children aged three and up, and their grown-ups. The event ends each day with families gathering in the woods to hear the story of Real Halloween which is followed by the parade of animal lanterns.
Bookable magical workshops include Magic Wands, Witches Bats, Witches Owls, Wizard Training and Witch Training and a brand-new drop-in workshop; Moon Calendars where children can make their own moon Calendar based on the regular moon cycle of 28 days (helping mark time, as nature does)
Free entertainment includes live music from Pennyless The He Hews and Murphy’s Lore , plus the hilarious ‘Pirate Panto’ which is perfect fun for all the family tales from two nationally-known story-tellers Mike Dodsworth and Callum McGowan.
Families can also partake in Witches Kitchens Jam Jar Lanterns, Pixie Post Office, Musical Toadstools and lots more. In recognition of their endangered status, Children can also make making mini houses for Hedgehogs.
The Halloween Games can be found on the main lawn where you can partake in games such as; Eye Boules, Bonkers Conkers, Sugar Beet Shot Putt,Parsnip Skittles, Hook-a-sprout, Apple Bobbing, Butternut Squash Hoopla, Potato Juggling, Broomstick Pick-up Sticks and Root-Veg-Dodge..and our favourite 'Shout at a Sprout'
Following the success of last year’s plastic-free home-made fancy dress competition, it makes a welcome return to Real Halloween with categories for both children and adults.

No Real Halloween would be complete without delicious local hot food and drink including the trust’s own ‘‘the Good Elf pub’’ and Crab apple café, shopping for handmade crafts, and to help raise funds for the nature-outreach work of the Trust, face painting the Pixie Post Office and the Halloween Games. Trolls will be rootling about in the woods.

Dressing up is encouraged with an emphasis on avoiding plastic or scary masks.

The event raises funds to support the Trust’s year-round work to teach children about British nature and how to help it.
