Guildhall of St George

In light of COVID-19, please make sure you check with your travel and accommodation providers before travelling.

The Guildhall of St George is Britain’s oldest working theatre and now operates as an arts centre with a programme full of local events and concerts. The medieval guildhall is reputed to have welcomed William Shakespeare.

Shakespeare’s Guildhall Trust volunteers open the guildhall free of charge to visitors every day, seven days a week, from 10am to 4pm. Trained volunteers provide guided tours and historical information as well as outline the vision for future development of this unique Grade I listed building.

The Town Guides take visitors into the Guildhall of St George during their historic walks.
