Details

Classical Musical Rocks (CMR) is a charity that brings world class musicians into West Norfolk Schools to inspire and entertain young people.

In February and March 2021, CMR are producing a series of six Sunday afternoon Chamber Music Concerts played to a socially distanced audience at Hunstanton’s Princess Theatre.

Georgian London was a cosmopolitan paradise for lucky artistes and the young Swedish musician, Johan Helmich Roman, was no exception. Join us for a musical feast from the elegant theatres and coffee houses of that era.

Since being prize winner in the prestigious London International Guitar Competition, Swedish Johan Löfving has established himself as one of the most exciting musicians of a new generation. His performances have taken him to some of the world's finest concert halls, and he has appeared in major festivals.

He graduated with First Class Honours from the Royal College of Music in London where he studied guitar with Gary Ryan, theorbo with Jakob Lindberg and conducting with Natalia Luis-Bassa.

Since 2009, Johan has been performing regularly with his wife, flautist Yu-Wei Hu as Flauguissimo Duo. They have specialized in the early 19th century repertoire and its exciting blend of spontaneous musical conversations and sublime beauty. The musical experience is heightened by their use of period instruments and Johan is particularly fond of his beautifully ornamented french guitar dating back to 1850.

Johan plays on a guitar made by the Norwegian Luthier Yngvar Thomassen, a theorbo by German Wolfgang Emmerich and a French Tribout guitar from 1850.

The concert lasts approximately 1 hour with no interval. Tickets are available now, limited to 100 seats due to social distancing. Visit Princess Theatre’s box office to book or for more details: www.princesshunstanton.co.uk/.

CMR is run by the truly inspirational Peter Barker, who is hoping to bring a performance to the Guildhall next Autumn in partnership with SGT. You can read more about CMR on their website: Classical Music Rocks - West Norfolk (cmrschoolswestnorfolk.com).
