Terry Waite

Terry Waite has spent a lifetime visiting and working in different trouble spots in the world. In Beirut, whilst attempting to secure the release of several hostages, he was taken captive and spent almost five years in solitary confinement. During that time he was chained to the wall without pencil or paper. It was then that he began to write in his head and his first book Taken on Trust was written in this manner.

His latest book Travels with a Primate is a record of the journeys he made across the world as Chaplain to the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie. The book shows that not only is Terry Waite a man of serious intent, he also has a lively sense of humour.

Hailed as both an erudite writer and a compelling public speaker, this encounter with Terry Waite is not to be missed.
