Farming in the past

Farming in the past

Farming in the past

Philip West's illustrated talk will centre on changes in farming in North Norfolk prior to and after mechanisation. Philip deals with the general farming processes to include soil preparation, harvesting of crops and in the case of grain - milling, malting and export from North Norfolk ports. He draws on personal experiences as a holgee boy growing up in a farming community of his home village of Hindringham in the 50's and 60's and resultant changes to village life following the huge reduction in the agricultural labour force.
