2015 Tour of Britain in Breckland

The country's top cycling event is coming to Breckland in September!

Breckland is one of the largest rural districts in England, nestled on the border of Norfolk and Suffolk. Covering much of the south, west and central parts of Norfolk and spanning over 500 square miles of beautiful countryside and forest, Breckland is one of the country's most attractive places to live, work, visit – and, of course, cycle.

The district has previously welcomed the Tour of Britain and the district council has a rich history of supporting local events and initiatives, including those which help communities across the district to get active. These have included events to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, grants to help improve local play areas, funding for leisure centres in each of Breckland's five market towns, plus the provision of modern swimming pools in the district's two largest towns - Thetford and Dereham.

Building on this impressive track record, the council has already committed to lead and support the Breckland Health and Wellbeing Partnership, which will see organisations working with local communities to make public spaces cleaner and greener and helping people of all ages to stay active within their communities.

Breckland also hosts Cycling Club Breckland, based in Shipdham, which specialises in Time Trials and Audax events, and Thetford Racing, which runs regular competitive mountain biking training, races and events on the numerous trails which can be found in the picturesque Thetford Forest.
