About Norfolk's museums

Many local museums, such as Ancient House Museum in Thetford and the Time and Tide museum in Great Yarmouth, focus on the good times and hard times of Norfolk folk - from skilled craftsmen to great heroes including Lord Nelson and Howard Carter. Find out what happened to those who were sent to the Old Gaol House (pictured) in King's Lynn including the fate of highway men, robbers and witches!

Norfolk has a rich aviation heritage, from airplane manufacture in Norwich, through the efforts of the war years by both the RAF and USAAF, to cold war defence. You can sample some of the county's aviation heritage at one of the many museums, including the amazing collection of aircraft at City of Norwich Aviation Musuem, Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum and The Fenland & West Norfolk Aviation Museum. Or perhaps visit the Muckleburgh Collection with its tanks and military exhibits.
