fishermans heritage centre
The Fishermen’s Heritage Centre is housed in newly refurbished longshore fishing sheds, between West Cliff and the Fishermen’s Slope. It tells the story of the private lifeboats of Sheringham during the 19th and early 20th centuries and gives an insight into the lives and work of the fishermen who crewed them and risked their lives to save others. It is linked to the display of the Henry Ramsey Upcher historic lifeboat, exhibited in the adjacent building.

These fascinating buildings also house the amazing Peter Coke Shell Gallery, which is unique in Britain and possibly Europe. Created by the well known actor and playwright, Peter Coke, this fabulous collection consists of over 200 intricate and beautiful designs made from shells collected from all over the world.
