William Marriott Museum
North Norfolk's Poppy Line from the seaside resort of Sheringham to the Georgian market town of Holt is one of Britain’s most scenic heritage railways. Next to the Holt station is a re-creation of a typical Midland & Great Northern Railway rural goods shed, now home to the William Marriott Museum. It is named after the engineer who built the Poppy Line and ran it with benevolent paternalism for 40 years.

The Museum’s artefacts and ephemera bring the late Victorian railway age vividly to life, painting a picture of the people who used and worked on the line, and showing how it gave birth to the North Norfolk tourist industry which it still serves so well today.
