The world of Norfolk Tourism PR has continued to be very busy since the spring. There's been plenty of national, regional and local media interest in the county. Thanks must go to all our partners throughout the country for their help and enthusiasm.
Some of the key coverage is listed below.
June
Eight US journalists visited the county in June on a press trip organised by East of England Tourism and VisitBritain. A writer from the Oxford Mail cycled and Coasthoppered on the Norfolk Coast in June, thanks to EET.
July
A Foreign Press Association visit, featuring journalists from China, India, Mexico and Pakistan explored the King’s Lynn Hanse Festival (pictured - Lisa von Lübeck coming from her home port in Germany) with the Mexican reporter doing an on-air piece during the afternoon. A further trip will be planned for The Broads next Spring.
West Norfolk just missed out in July on being the children’s choice in the CBBC TV programme Gimme a Break, but will be featured again on 24th October when the show is broadcast on BBC2. The Norfolk Broads have already been featured on the 26th September edition, showcasing this unique landscape to families across the country.
Sheila & Richard Every, writers for Creator’s News Service USA, similar to the Press Association, came on a week-long visit to Norwich and North and West Norfolk.
Cromer Pier’s Seaside Special is featured in a five-page article in September’s Coast Magazine – thanks to contact made at the Excursions exhibition in January. Coast Magazine also visited in August researching a feature on moving to the Cromer and Sheringham area.
August
Contact was renewed with Editor of Bird Watching magazine at August’s Birdfair. A trip will be planned to The Broads next Spring.
The Editor of a forthcoming Time Out Guide to Norfolk and Suffolk was in West Norfolk and Breckland in August and early September. She is gradually covering the whole county.
September
Two journalists from Yorkshire Women’s Life visited in September covering the Food Festival, Holkham and North Norfolk Railway.
We also attended another EET ‘Meet the Media’ event in London in early September, making good contacts with national magazines and newspapers with several features in the pipeline. The EDP’s Holiday Here campaign has given great support to the county’s tourism industry – Mike Souter’s five week exploration of The Broads being one of the highlights.
October and Beyond
We are also looking forward to the visit of 10 journalists from the British Guild of Beer Writers in November, who are exploring Norwich pubs and the county’s microbrewery offer.
Another FPA trip, this time to Walsingham, is being staged in October. |
