Norfolk Tourist Information Centres (TICs)
World Class NorfolkIn early September, John Humphreys, presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, led the national announcement that Norfolk was launching a new campaign, ‘World Class – Normal for Norfolk’.

Masterminded by Shaping Norfolk’s Future, the 7 month campaign is aimed at encouraging more businesses to think of Norfolk as a world class business destination and has set a target of attracting 5,000 high value jobs into the country and trebling the number of enquiries about investing in Norfolk.

To date, the campaign has enjoyed excellent coverage from The Financial Times, FT.com, London’s Evening Standard and the EDP, explaining the concept of Norfolk fighting back, after years of being the butt of jokes, to champion the county as not just a fantastic place for a holiday, but also a place where world class businesses thrive.

The campaign is multi media and includes TV commercials, on line promotions and posters aimed at audiences in London, the south east and the eastern region while an interactive website www.worldclassnorfolk.com is already attracting thousands of visitors on the internet.

Norfolk Customer Perceptions study
What do visitors think about us? Now that the Tourism in Norfolk Strategy and action plan has been completed, which encompasses all the activities of tourism destination organisations in the County, work has begun on the development of a marketing plan.

As a first step towards this, Norfolk Tourism has commissioned The Tourism Company to develop an on-line questionnaire which will help to identify visitor perceptions of the County and its tourism product.

The link to the questionnaire will be sent out to Norfolk Tourism’s own customer database and those of its partner organisations in the next few weeks. The results will be collated by the Tourism Company and used to inform the development of the TiN marketing plan.
Exhibitions
Norfolk Tourism at the British BirdfairNorfolk upheld as premier birdwatching region in the UK.

We finished the 2009 exhibition season on a soaring high with a super busy Bird Fair in Rutland on 21-23 August.

We were swamped with visitors from 9.00 steadily until 17.00 on all 3 days. They were interested, well informed and wanted all the literature and information we could offer.

We shared a stand with the Broads Authority and were able to offer literature from West Norfolk who created a special leaflet featuring the species you could see season by season. The outdoor activities leaflets from the Broads and Broadland also went down well. Norfolk was one of only 4 UK destinations at the show and a welcome, familiar face, between Columbia and Kenya!

Next year we will be organising appearances at:
  • Excursions, 10 January Alexandra Palace
    (Trade: Group Travel)

  • Confex, 23-25 February Earl’s Court
    (Trade: Business Tourism)

  • Outdoor Show, 27-29 March, NEC
    (Consumer)

  • Bird Fair, 20-22 August, Rutland
    (Consumer)

Unless we have your support and participation, we cannot do these important exhibitions so if you would like more detail on any of the shows, please contact Ginny or Louisa on 01603 222246.
Travel Trade Manual 2010 launches
Travel Trade Manual 2010 cover, Norfolk group travelThe 10th annual Travel Trade Manual from Norfolk Tourism is soon to be hot off the press. As the only countywide publication it is essential reading for group organisers.

This year the manual contains suggestions on things to do in each of the seasons including the most popular festivals in Norfolk. The manual features information on each of the districts, what to see and do and points the way to further information from our partners.

Due to popular demand, this year the print run has increased to 9,000 copies. It is also available as a download along with expanded itineraries for groups from www.visitnorfolk.co.uk/groups.
