Pubs

Norwich was once said to have a pub for every day of the week. Although this may no longer be true it is certain that around almost every corner in Norfolk, on country roads or city streets, you will find a welcoming pub or bar.

A traditional welcome
In the majority of Norfolk villages and on every city street you will find a traditional public house. Whether it is a country pub with a thatched roof and pretty garden or a Victorian corner pub with a cosy snug, each Norfolk pub has a distinctive personality.

Many pubs in the county serve local beers, some of the best in the world, and publicans will be happy to recommend an ale for you to try.

The food on offer varies from stylish snacks to traditional, home cooked favourites and many pubs serve food all day.
The best of beer
Norfolk is a great grain growing area, noted for the quality of its barley so it's no suprise that fine beers are produced here. There are many small breweries such as Woodfordes, Buffy's and the Iceni Brewery to explore - each producing distinctive ales.

For real ale fans the Norwich Beer Festival, which takes place in October, should not be missed.
City Life
The streets of Norwich are brimming with stylish bars which offer a stylish and lively alternative to the traditional pub. City centre bars such as Orgasmic, HaHa, Maximo and Norwegian Blue are popular daytime venues for a leisurely lunch or afternoon drink. An eclectic mix of food is on offer from cheesy fries and potato wedges to the ultimate in sophisticated pizzas and anti pasta.

As the daylight fades the personality of these bars changes as night-time revellers prepare for an evening out on the town.
Live music
Norfolk is proud to have one of the best live music scenes in the UK with venues throughout the county. Blues, jazz, soul and folk - you will find a huge choice of informal gigs in pubs in towns and villages from Thursday through to Sunday.

Some of the best venues for music are the BlueBerry, Delaneys and The Walnut Tree Shades in Norwich and The Railway in Wymondham.

Check out local papers for listings.
