Like many of Norfolk’s market towns, North Walsham has a beautiful parish church. A mixture of architectures - including Medieval, Saxon and 19th Century - combine to make Saint Nicholas Parish Church an intriguing building. Open every day, visitors are welcome to explore the Church and the stewards will be more than happy to tell you some of the fascinating stories such as that behind the Tower Ruin, while there is also an audio trail on offer. The Market Cross is another interesting historic building going through many stages and changes – bought and sold by many, damaged by fire and turned into a time piece with the addition of a clock. For motorbike enthusiasts visit the Norfolk Motorcycle Museum to see an incredible collection dating back to the 1920s along with bicycles from the late 1800s and die cast toys. |
| Shopping in North Walsham | The main shopping in North Walsham is to be found around the Market Place where high street names mingle happily with independent local shops. Meander down the town’s narrow alleyways or ‘lokes’ to find hidden gems and be sure to pick up a free shoppers guide from the Griffon Area Partnership Office, behind the church. Every Thursday the Market Place takes on a whole new look as the weekly market takes over and locals sell a range of goods, while every second and fifth Saturday there is a farmers market. Only produce made or grown within a 30 mile radius can be sold here so everything is truly local. For something really different visit Cat Pottery – perfect for cat lovers! Hand crafted pottery cats of all breeds and sizes can be purchased, each one completely unique and definitely a place worth visiting. |
