Buses, Norwich
Getting to Norwich and Norfolk is easy with excellent road links, regular train services and an airport less than five miles from the city centre. For those travelling by sea there is a ferry port at Harwich, while there is also a second airport in the East Anglia region allowing travellers to reach us from destinations all over the world. And once you’ve arrived in our fine city - whether it’s by car, coach or train - you’ll need to know the best places to park or what buses to use. Green Travel Map, Norwich, NorfolkFor anyone living, working or visiting Norwich, a new Green Travel Map, produced by Norfolk County Council in partnership with Norwich City Council, makes it easier than ever to leave the car at home.

Fifty thousand copies of the map are available free of charge from council offices and information centres, libraries and tourist information centres.

The map shows city centre and wider Norwich networks, giving the best cycling and walking routes. It also contains useful tips on using the bus and places to find further information, such as the Traveline website for buses; or walkit Norwich for pedestrians. There are also tips on greener car use, including car share contacts and fuel-saving driving techniques.

Park & Ride
One of the best ways of getting to the city centre is to Park and Ride. Norwich has six different routes, all of which provide excellent value for money and are a great environmentally friendly way to travel. The charge is per vehicle and there is no time limit on how long you can stay during your day of travel. You won’t be queuing to find a space either with almost 5,000 car parking spaces available over the six sites.

Car Parks
Norwich has many car parks in and around the city centre ranging from multi-storey (some underground) and surface car parks. There is also ample parking available for the disabled while there is a free motorcycle park near Tombland for motorcyclists. Buses

The Fusion bus ticket lets you travel on most bus services within the area shown on the map below. It’s valid all day* (* from 0500 to 0200 the next morning), for as many journeys as you like, and you can pass it on to a friend or relative to use too.

Taxis
Taxis are an excellent way for stress-free travel whether you need a lift back to your hotel with all your heavy shopping or after a night out enjoying the local bars and pubs. Taxi ranks can be found all over the city including Norwich Train Station, Castle Meadow, Tombland, Prince of Wales Road and City Hall. There are also additional taxi ranks and private hire taxis. Walking
If you're staying in Norwich, then getting about the city couldn't be easier.

Norwich is a compact city, built around the heart of the Castle and its surrounding medieval streets. It's delightful lanes, alleys and streets make walking in the city a charm, and you'll often come across an independent boutique you'd not spotted before!

To make visiting and exploring Norwich even simpler, a new, free online walking route planner for Norwich has been launched, to encourage the city’s residents and visitors to walk more. To find the best route from A to B, simply visit www.walkit.com/norwich and then get walking!
Cycling
If you are thinking of bringing your bike for your day trip or holiday you’ll discover that Norwich is ideal for cyclists. The city is compact and while you won’t find any big hills to tackle we can’t promise it’s completely flat! There are a number of dedicated cycle parking stands and further information can be found at www.norwich.gov.uk or call 01603 212237 to enquire about maps.

A secure cycle storage facility for bicycles and cyclist’s belongings especially suitable for touring cyclists is available at the Norwich City Council run St Andrews car park, (entrance from Duke Street; Norwich city centre close to Sustrans Route 1), ask at the car park office and staff will be on hand to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Toilets are also available at this car park.
