In Norfolk you will find attractions to excite every member of the family. You can experience the thrills and spills of fun fairs and theme parks, follow dinosaur trails or come face to face with African wildlife.

Animal Crackers
Norfolk is home to some of the best zoos and wildlife parks in the UK where you can come face to face with rare and unusual animals and find out more about their natural habitat and conservation. Thrigby Wildlife Gardens and Banham Zoo are just two of the places you can find animals, from tigers and wallabies to monkeys and otters.

There are also lots of places where you can feed and stroke to animals at junior farms and petting zoos such as those at Wroxham Barns, The Dinosaur Adventure Park and Park Farm Snettisham. Children can get to know farmyard and small animals animals in a family friendly environment.

For those who want to discover the underwater world, the Sea Life centres at Hunstanton and Great Yarmouth are a must. You can also find out more about the conservation of animals such as Penguins and Seals at sanctuaries and join in at feeding times.
Thrills and Spills
What is it about the fastest, scariest rides that makes us all scream for more? In Norfolk you will find roller-coasters and white-knuckle rides which turn you around, upside down and leave your stomach somewhere behind you.

There is a wide choice of family attractions in Norfolk, offering rides, adventure and entertainment for children from 2 to 102.

At Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach you can enjoy panaoramic views of the coast from the top of the roller-coaster as you prepare to hurtle towards the ground.

Or why not spend a whole day out at the Village Experience or Pettits Animal Adventure Park where there are rides and activities for smaller children, or those who prefer a gentler approach.

Get your feet wet
Swimming is a great way to burn off some energy, cool down and have fun. Whether you prefer indoor pools, flowing rivers or salt water there are lots of places to get your feet wet in Norfolk.

On the Norfolk Coast you will find gently shelving shorelines and beautifully clean stretches of sand which make for safe swimming and great seaside fun.

There is also a great selection of swimming pools and leisure parks where you can face wave machines and slides. Many have special pools for smaller children so they can enjoy the water in safety.

Out in the country
There are so many things for families to enjoy in the Norfolk countryside. Country Parks such as Fritton Lake offer a combination of space to play and explore, animals to discover and boating on the lake. Or visit High Lodge Forest Centre in Thetford where you can hire a bike and follow one of the cycle trails.

Throughout Norfolk you'll find space to picnic, play and enjoy the great outdoors. Family fun needn't cost a fortune in this beautiful county.
Steam Power
Norfolk is home to several traditional steam railways where you can experience train travel as it used to be.

The Bure Valley Railway is Norfolk's longest narrow gauge heritage steam railway which runs from Aylsham to Wroxham.

The North Norfolk Railway, or Poppy Line, offers a 10.5 mile round trip by steam train from Sheringham to Holt. It travels through the North Norfolk Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

You can discover more about steam power at Bressingham Museum which has lots to see and do including an exhibition devoted to 'Dad's Army'.
The great indoors!
For younger children Norfolk has a great selection of indoor play centres where they can burn off lots of energy in a safe, all weather environment.

Specially designed for under-eights, venues such as the Playbarn in Poringland and Playland near Wells-next-the-sea, have activities and games to keep children happy for hours.
