Population
The 2001 estimate shows that the population of Norfolk increased by 13.5 per cent to 798,000 between 1981 and 2001. This compared with an 11.1 per cent rise in the East of England and a 5.0 per cent rise in England.
In 2001 there was a larger percentage of people of pension age in Norfolk than in the East of England as a whole.
Between 1991 and 2001 the percentage of people from non-white ethnic origin increased from 0.9 to 1.5 per cent in Norfolk.

Economic Impact of Tourism
Research by the East of England Tourist Board estimates that in 2003 there were 4,914,000 staying visitors in Norfolk. The total number of day visitors was estimated at 46,324,853.
The research estimates that 28,894 full time jobs are directly supported by tourism in Norfolk and that the total business turnover supported by tourism is £2,825,863,000.
