Time and Time again-  - by Alan Ayckbourn

Like TAKING STEPS, which we staged last year, this comedy is set in Home Counties suburbia, which Ayckbourn brilliantly observes with hilarious accuracy. We find ourselves in Graham and Anna’s back garden, where Anna’s brother, Leonard, can often be found holding long conversations with the garden gnome. If you’re in need of a ’good dose of laughter therapy’, then you’re in for a treat! Sponsored by ROGER LEE OPTOMETRISTS

Great Yarmouth Film Festival - The glitz and glamour of the silver screen will be coming to the golden resort of Great Yarmouth. This film festival-by-the-sea will provide a feast of film screenings, star appearances, premieres, special events, many of which will be held in Great Yarmouth’s magnificent 19th century theatres.

As the centrepiece of the first Great Yarmouth Film Festival, we are celebrating the career of the legendary, double Oscar-winning cinematographer Jack Cardiff O.B.E. Jack Cardiff was born in Great Yarmouth in 1914 and we are delighted to welcome him back to his home town for the Festival. Jack, who is giving a special cinematography master class on the opening evening of the festival, will be presented with an award by another famous Norfolk son, Stephen Fry, to recognise his contribution to the world of cinema.

As well as the Cardiff classics “A Matter of Life and Death” and “The Red Shoes”, the Festival will feature previews and premieres including the regional preview of “Man on Fire” starring Denzel Washington and the first back-to-back screening of the Matrix Trilogy in the UK plus the screening of The Lord of the Rings trilogy back-to-back. The film programme includes a wide range of classic features, cult TV and movies, Hollywood blockbusters, documentaries as well as local heritage films, which have been specially compiled for the festival by the East Anglian Film Archive. For those with nerves of steel, there is a Fright Night, when five hair-raising horror films will be shown through the small hours.

In addition to film screenings, there will be a whole host of special events, workshops and other entertainment. A Film, TV & Toy Collector’s Fair will held at the Marina Centre, which will feature memorabilia, stars and cars from the films including James Bond’s Aston Martin, a Dalek and the Batmobile. Information on table bookings is available from Trevor Wicks on 01603 621903.

The cult TV series “Dad’s Army” has very strong links with the region and to celebrate this there will be a special Dad’s Army Night. There will be 1940’s themed entertainment and two of the episodes filmed in Great Yarmouth will be screened. It is hoped that several members of the surviving cast will attend.

The Festival weekend will be packed with entertainment. The Atlantis Arena is hosting a Rocky Horror Party Night with singers and dancers and there will be the chance to rock to the sounds of Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry and other rock’n’roll legends at the tribute show C’Mon Everybody in the Britannia Pier Theatre.

For the kids, there is the fun, fascinating, hands-on Animation Workshop. It is also hoped that Chris Rankin, who plays Percy Weasley, will attend the screening of Prisoner of Askeban and share his experience of working on the Harry Potter films.

There are also two industry strands to the Festival. The Archive Conference will focus on film and television archives, looking not only at the preservation of archive resources but also how they can be used to develop new work. A special feature of the event is the Screenwriting Festival, a weekend for both budding and established screenwriters. Workshops will be led by established writing experts in the fields of TV and Film.

Horses at Deepdale - Only available to those staying in one of our hostels or campsite!

We felt we should try this as so many people have asked, if it works then we will offer it out of season every year. This time we are purely offering it from October to December 2004 so we can assess the state of the paddocks and see if it seems to work.

The area we can offer is our North Glebe paddock which we use for camping at the peak times of the year. There is no fencing provided, so you would need to bring your own electric fencing, however there is easy access to water and a muck trailer. We ask anyone using the paddock to clear up after their horses and leave the field as they found it. We've marked six areas with telegraph poles for use, which are approximately 20m x 20m. Please note whilst your horses are on site they are the owners responsibility and must be insured.

If you are keen to bring horses, then please contact us to arrange dates and your other accommodation.

Furhter information on the Fleming Lectures
Launcelot Fleming’s broad sympathies, his Christian humanism and his commitment to university life both in Cambridge and at the University of East Anglia lay behind the move to name this annual lecture series in his honour.

Each year a broad theme of significance to the whole of society is approached from four different angles by lecturers distinguished in their own spheres.

Enterprise In Norfolk - The aim of the ‘Enterprise in Norfolk event’ is to both inspire the people of Norfolk into considering starting their own business and motivate existing businesses to move their businesses on to that next important stage of development.

Norfolk businesses are not taking full advantage of the business support which is available to them. Many say that they are confused by the numerous options available and so prefer to avoid them altogether.

Enterprise in Norfolk has the task of ensuring that those interested in development know what is possible and know how to access assistance from the public and private sector to make it happen.

The ‘Enterprise in Norfolk’ Experience

The Enterprise in Norfolk will take visitors on a journey through the key development areas for their business to help them see that there are many realistic options and to assist them to make progress and use their ideas to make their businesses more profitable.

Organisations included in supporting and growing businesses will be under “one roof” providing the visitor with a clearer understanding of all elements involved in business start-up, growth and personal development. Organisations taking part will include, banks, accountants, solicitors, training providers, technology providers, Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, Business Link for Norfolk and many others. The key is to encourage the visitor to investigate all development opportunities in an informal atmosphere providing motivation, inspiration and genuine support.

The Event will be held over two floors at the Norwich City Football Club and will be professional but informal.

Beauty & The Beast - One of the best Christmas treats for the family to share is a trip to the pantomime! At Sheringham Little Theatre, this year’s production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is sure to appeal to everyone!

Beauty and the Beast is one of the most loved fairy tales, truly a “tale as old as time”. This classic story is full of spectacle, illusion, love and pathos. Set in France, it is the tale of a mysterious French Prince, Jean-Pierre, who is selfish, cold and spoilt. He is a cruel master and ruler of the land, disliked by all, until one day it all changes and all because of a single rose, some magic and the love of a beautiful girl.

The star of the show, is the delightful Julie Reinger from BBC Look East. Julie plays Fairy Kindheart and is joined by a talented cast of professional artistes and local babes. There are great comics, superb singers, fabulous dancers and a zany pantomime Dame. The show has fantastic songs, including some Disney favourites, traditional ballads, popular tracks and original pieces. Tons of jokes, (Oh no, there aren’t!) and hilarious routines, spectacular costumes and beautiful sets. All the ingredients to create a stunning pantomime full of fun and audience participation.

If you are seeking a traditional pantomime for all the family to enjoy over the festive season then make your way to Sheringham Little Theatre! Daily matinee and evening performances.

P.S. If you have yet to discover the intimate and unique qualities of The Little Theatre then you are in for an even bigger treat!

Alby Crafts Ceramic Green Men Exhibition - Alby’s Ceramic Green Men
Alby Crafts sculptor, Helen Dixon, is staging an exhibition of ceramic Green Men in her studio from Saturday, January 8.
The Green Men, all free-standing and on average one foot tall, are made from a combination of terracotta and stoneware. They mark the launch of a new sculpting venture by Helen who has a popular collection of stone Green Men.
“I have been making Green Man garden sculptures for a number of years,” said Helen. “My sculptures tend to be inspired by local examples including those in
Calthorpe and Hunworth churches, but some of the new terracotta Green Men have come straight out of my imagination.
Green Man sculptures can be found in churches all over the world. There are several famous Green Men in Norwich Cathedral’s cloisters.
Alby’s craft studios, gallery, gift shop, tearoom and garden re-open after the Christmas break, on Saturday, January 8. The centre is open 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday inclusive and Bank Holiday Mondays, until December 24, 2005; free entry to the garden until March.

Tom Thumb - Lyngo Theatre Company presents 'Tom Thumb' by Marcello Chiarenza translated and performed by Patrick Lynch with original music by Carlo 'Cialdo' Capelli
'Here I am!' Tom stays one tiny step ahead of everyone to save his brothers from mum, dad and the monster. 'Nobody fools me!' With feathery spinning birds, a scary ogre head, flying fiery houses and a portable forest this show, performed entirely on a kitchen table, is a wee wonder.

It's a story about being afraid, "How can you sleep? I can't. It must be because I'm scared." says Tom to his brothers when he hears the ogre coming up the stairs. It's a story about hunger, which Toms' parents know all about as they try to lose their own children in the forest. It's also a story about playing and having fun, which Tom does better than anybody. This is a show to put in your pocket and take home.
