Jerome Mayhew's Norfolk

Jerome Mayhew, managing director of Go Ape! in Thetford Forest, tells us about his favourite Norfolk things.

Where is your favourite place to eat, and why? The Norfolk Griddle at Little Walsingham. The quality of the food far exceeds your expectations: beautiful French cuisine in the back of a fish and chip shop.

Your favourite pub, and why? The Victoria at Holkham – for a real treat and superb service.

Jerome Mayhew of Go Ape!Jerome Mayhew of Go Ape! loves Blakeney for its beauty and remoteness.

What do you long for if you've been away? To be back in Norfolk with my wife and children.

What's your favourite Norfolk place and why? Blakeney – just the most beautiful remote spot and the chance of seeing some seals, or catching some crabs.

Where would you have a picnic and what Norfolk food would you have? I would have a full seafood extravaganza with shrimps, dressed crabs and a local samphire salad all near the warmed sand pools at Morston Marshes.

Your favourite Norfolk view? Across to the Wiveton Church looking from Cley-next-the-Sea.

Where would you send a visitor to really appreciate Norfolk? Well, on the way into Norfolk I would send them to our Tree Top Adventure Course at High Lodge Thetford Forest of course! Followed by a leisurely day trip to Norwich to see the wonderful cathedral and castle, as well as the impressive exhibitions at the Sainsbury Centre Art Gallery. And then onto the coast either north or east. Fabulous beaches all around.

What piece of advice would you give to a visitor of the county? Travel by bicycle, you will see so much more.

What's your idea of Norfolk Big Sky Thinking? Walking to the water's edge at low tide on Holkham Beach.
