Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham
Spend the morning exploring the quaint seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea. There are plenty of opportunities to browse the small, individual shops, stop off for a cup of tea and a slice of cake at the many cafes, or enjoy lunch at the pubs and restaurants. Discover the narrow lanes, alleyways and the magnificent Georgian square, known as The Buttlands.
Wander along the harbour to see the boats coming and going, or perhaps enjoy some delicious fish and chips, sitting on the quayside, watching the world go by. The traditional seaside fun continues at Wells beach, situated a mile away from the town, with its colourful beach huts, miles of golden sands and the ever popular Beach Café.
In the afternoon, travel just along the coast to Holkham Hall. At the heart of a thriving 25,000 acre estate, Holkham Hall is described as an exceptional place, rich in history, architecture and wildlife. The seat of the Earls of Leicester, this elegant 18th century mansion is still very much a lived-in family home and the Coke Family take pride in sharing their house with visitors. It makes for a spectacular destination and many opportunities for group visits, including visiting the Walled Gardens.
The café in the park overlooks the lake and the cricket pitch and offers a variety of hot and cold drinks, tasty snacks, sandwiches, cakes and scones, whilst the gift shop has brought together a tempting blend of gifts and souvenirs.
