Norwich International Airport has become one of just seven airports in the UK to be approved to transport assistance dogs travelling under the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS), administered by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA). All pets including assistance dogs must meet the following criteria to be accepted under the Pet Travel Scheme: Micro-chipped to ISO standard; EU Pet passport or a third country official veterinary certificate; Rabies Vaccination certificate; Rabies Blood test, Treated against ticks and worms.

Norwich International now have a dedicated team trained to process the paperwork and to meet and greet the assistance dogs and their owners on arrival to undertake the necessary checks and ensure that the passenger and dog are comfortable and are assisted during the whole journey through the airport. The National Accessible Scheme for self-catering, holiday parks and serviced accommodation includes standards for hearing and visually impaired guests in addition to standards for guests with mobility impairment.

The West Norfolk Access Guide has been compiled after access consultants visited the 600 plus businesses and service providers in King's Lynn, Hunstanton and Downham Market.
The guide, found at www.westnorfolkaccessguide.co.uk, contains information about wheelchair access, toilet and changing facilities, aisle widths, accessibility of shelving and much more, and is designed to help people with specific needs make informed choices.
