Walking

Norfolk can boast coast, country, fen and forest walking, so with the exception of mountains, we can offer you pretty much everything here! Pull on your walking boots and get out to explore. If you're up to some long distance walking in Norfolk, try the ancient Peddars Way which links to the Norfolk Coast Path National Trail. Boating

Norfolk gives you so many choices for boating and sailing. For a gentle pace, try out the tranquil Norfolk Broads where you've got 125 miles of lock-free navigable waterways with peaceful anchorages. Chug along at a slow steady pace taking in the scenery and stop off at welcoming pubs or pretty Norfolk villages along the way. Or climb aboard a wooden ferryboat from picturesque Blakeney harbour or Morston quay and slowly wind up the creek to see a colony of hundreds of seals basking in the sun.

Birdwatching & Wildlife Watching

Norfolk is dubbed the birdwatching capital of Britain. There's plenty to see whatever the time of year - from Barn Owls to Kingfishers, Cetti's Warbler to Bearded Tits. Norfolk is birdwatchers' paradise and a wonderful place for children to begin to learn about their feathered friends. There's plenty of non-avian action too - if you're lucky you may see an otter, hear the 'plop' of a water vole as it dives in the water, or see the secretive Chinese Water Deer as it scurries away!

See our Norfolk Birdwatching page for more on the best places to visit and what to see when
