The Norfolk Kipper House was established in 1999 by local fisherman Richard Little and fishmonger, Angela Barrows. The idea was to sell traditional specialist seafood products in Richards Fish Shop, Sheringham, and to supply seafood to local pubs, restaurants and shops.
The main product would always be dressed crabs, as these are synonymous with the North Norfolk Coast. But in addition, Angela wanted to develop a range of traditional teatime fish savouries, such as Kipper Paste, Bloater Paste and Potted Shrimp.
With smokehouses all along the North Norfolk coastline; and the history of herring industry in Lowestoft, The Norfolk Kipper paste Kipper and Bloater Paste are long established flavours in our product range.
Smoked Mackerel, Smoked Salmon and Crab Paste followed and are surprising favourites with children! We even have regular little visitors to our tasters section at local farmers markets!
